The Museum of Natural History in Gagliole chronicles the history of life on Earth from its origins. It boasts a diverse array of locally sourced fossils and minerals, alongside rare and significant finds from around the globe. These collections are meticulously curated and presented in a chronological order, allowing visitors to trace the evolution of life on Earth from the Archeozoic era to the present day.
Many specimens on display are not only rare but also unique. These include a specimen of Plesiosaurus, a marine reptile famously known in popular culture as the ‘Loch Ness monster’, a complete specimen of Dyrosaurus, a 6-metre long marine reptile, and a magnificent ichthyosaur. Notably, the collection features a complete specimen of Ursus Spelaeus, or cave bear.
The mineralogical collection is remarkably extensive, featuring impressive specimens that offer insights into the history of mankind and scientific exploration.
Guided tours of our museum’s exhibition rooms are complemented with educational activities, providing a comprehensive and engaging exploration of various topics tailored to different age groups, ranging from primary school to high school students
